Parts of England are bracing themselves for more heavy rain later after floods led to several people being rescued from homes and roads.
More than 80 flood warnings are in place, mainly in the South West and Midlands, with nearly 140 flood alerts across England.
Torrential rain is forecast for later, although Friday is due to be a drier day.
The Environment Agency said it would "urge people to remain vigilant".
"We also ask that people stay safe, by staying away from swollen rivers and not attempting to drive through floodwater," said Paul Fox.
Two trappedIn Devon and Somerset on Wednesday, the fire service was called to 18 rescues of people in vehicles caught in flood water.
One of the incidents involved two people who got trapped attempting to rescue stranded cattle.
In Somerset, a crew helped a woman in labour to leave her flooded property.
Fire crews in the county received more than 130 flood-related calls during a seven-hour period. Twenty people were rescued from flooded homes or vehicles.
Crews in the neighbouring Bristol and Bath areas were called 150 times in a nine-hour period and said they are preparing for more calls on Thursday.

Heavy rain flooded homes and roads across much of Somerset and Bristol
Across the country, a number of disruptions have been reported including:
- In Gloucestershire, several main routes including the A38 remains closed
- In Somerset, the A358 at Chard remains closed because of flooding
- Rail services continue to be affected by flooding with no trains running between Exeter and Taunton
- Trains between Exeter and Yeovil, and Swindon and Bristol Parkway are also affected
Sandbags have been placed at entrances to homes in an effort to avoid a repeat of the damage caused last month by severe downpours in Devon and Cornwall.
Devon and Cornwall Police said there had been a number of reports of standing water on roads, creating a risk of cars aquaplaning.
Weather forecasters have predicted the heavy rain will spread across the east of England while continuing in the South West.
Michael Silverstone, BBC Weather forecaster, said: "[On Thursday], all parts of the United Kingdom will see a spell of very heavy rain, with some very strong winds on and just ahead of the rain.
"We are likely to see severe gales in exposed parts of southern and western England, Wales and Scotland, with winds gusting as high as 70mph. Even inland, some places could see gales, with winds gusting to 50 or 60mph."
