Heavy rain and strong winds will sweep across southern Britain to put a dampener on bank holiday Monday for many people, forecasters have warned.
The Met Office said the conditions could cause problems for motorists, with surface water and spray predicted.
It has issued yellow weather warnings - meaning "be aware" - for southern England and south Wales on Monday, with most of the UK seeing some rain.
Low pressure would bring an "unpleasant day's weather" to the south, it added.
BBC weather presenter Darren Bett said that following sunshine on Sunday increasing cloud would bring rain at times on Monday.
Temperatures will struggle to get above 17C (63F) - well below average for August - and Scotland would have the best of the weather although it is not a bank holiday there.
The Met Office said strong winds would be an additional factor, as well as heavy rain, close to southern coasts.
Overnight stayIt warned people to be aware that there may be "some impacts to holiday traffic and other outdoor activities".
A Met Office spokesman said "A complex area of low pressure looks like bringing an unpleasant day's weather to much of the south on Monday.
"Rainfall amounts look like exceeding 20mm (0.8in) quite widely, while a few places might see around 40mm (1.6in), so there will be a lot of surface water and spray on roads.
"The spray will probably be made worse by strong winds across some southern areas; gusts to around 40mph (64km/h) may occur at some coastal locations although this will depend on the exact track of the low pressure."
Tourism agency Visit England said more than five million people were planning an overnight stay over the bank holiday weekend.
About one million people are expected to attend London's Notting Hill Carnival, one of Europe's biggest events of its kind, which takes place on Sunday and Monday.
