Night-time footage posted on The Only Way is Peterhead Facebook page shows flames engulfing the building
A blaze at a fish factory in Peterhead, which firefighters fought for eight hours, has been brought under control.
Crews were called to the Northbay Pelagic premises in Kirk Square at about 14:43 GMT on Saturday.
Nearby flats were evacuated and onlookers were urged to stay away but no-one was believed to have been in the factory at the time.
A number of crews were withdrawn from the blaze, which could be seen for miles around, at about 22:43.
Earlier, clouds of smoke could be seen billowing across the harbour area and there were reports of loud bangs from inside the building.
One eyewitness described it as looking like a "volcano" erupting.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it had sent six appliances to the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Local road closures are in place in Charlotte Street, and St Peter's Street, Peterhead.
"Evacuation of nearby flats is under way as a precaution in case the fire spreads.
"Members of the public are requested to stay away from the area at this time in order to allow emergency services to focus on managing this incident."
The building involved was formerly the Fresh Catch fish factory. The firm was taken over in a "joint venture" by new company Northbay Pelagic Ltd in 2013.
The smoke clouds were visible from Peterhead FC's Balmoor Stadium. The club were playing Stirling Albion at home on Saturday afternoon.
