A man was shot dead and another was injured when gunman opened fire as they sat in a stationary car in Sheffield.
The pair were shot on Derek Dooley Way in the city centre, at about 22:15 GMT on Sunday, South Yorkshire Police said.
Both men - aged 22 and from Sheffield - were taken to hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead and the driver is in a stable condition.
No arrests have yet been made. One lane of Sheffield Parkway out of the city centre is currently shut.
"It's anticipated they will remain closed throughout the morning as police continue their enquiries. The Parkway into the city is unaffected," a police spokesman said.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have information to come forward.
